Here’s everything you need to know about where to collect your keys, what to bring with you and parking during the main arrivals weekend.
Where to collect your keys
Your key collection point will depend on where you’re living and when you arrive.
If you’re arriving before Friday 18 September:
- The Village: The Village Reception, 15 Manor Road, Leicester, LE2 2LG
- The City: The City Reception, 161 Welford Road, Leicester, LE2 6BF
If you’re arriving on Friday 18 or Saturday 19 September:
- The Village: Stamford Court, 15 Manor Road, Leicester, LE2 2LG
- The City: Sir Bob Burgess Building, 161 Welford Road, Leicester, LE2 6BF
If you arrive before Saturday 19 September, you’ll be charged the nightly room rate from the date you collect your keys. This means your accommodation charges will begin from your actual move-in date.
What to bring when collecting your keys
Make sure you have the following with you:
- Your Student ID number
- Photo ID
You’ll need an accepted form of photo identification to collect your keys and complete your registration when you arrive.
- UK students: Passport or long-form UK birth certificate. A driving licence cannot be accepted.
- EEA/Swiss students: Passport or national identity card.
- International students: Passport.
EEA/Swiss and international students will also need to complete an in-person visa checkpoint before collecting their Student ID card. Check the Welcome – Visa checkpoint page for information about where and when you can attend.
Make moving in easier
You may want to hire or buy a trolley to help move your belongings from your car to your room. It can also come in handy when it’s time to move out.
Unfortunately, there won’t be any trolleys available to borrow from the accommodation team, so make sure you arrange your own if you think you’ll need one.
Arriving by car in The City
If you’re arriving by car on Friday 18 or Saturday 19 September, you’ll need to book a parking slot through the accommodation portal.
The multi-storey car park is designed for unloading and short stays so that spaces remain available for other students arriving throughout the day.
Parking arrangements are:
- The first 30 minutes are free.
- An additional hour costs £3.
- The maximum stay is 1.5 hours.
- Once you’ve unloaded, free parking is available on Central Campus, just across the road.
- You must leave the multi-storey car park within 1.5 hours.
If you stay longer than 1.5 hours, a penalty charge will apply:
- Friday 18 September: £5
- Saturday 19 September: £25
Security may also contact you by phone to ask you to move your vehicle.
If your vehicle is more than 2.1 metres high, email accommodation@le.ac.uk before you arrive so suitable arrangements can be made.
Arriving before 18 September?
The 1.5-hour parking restriction does not apply if you arrive before Friday 18 September. Standard parking rates will apply instead.
Planning your journey and having everything ready before you set off will help make your move-in day as straightforward as possible.
