A big part of student life is the pub crawls and clubbing with friends, but sometimes there is a well-needed break, especially on a student budget.
Here are 5 things you can do on a weekend that are a bit more relaxed and still fun:
1. Botanical Gardens 🪷
The University of Leicester has a beautiful botanical garden with woodlands, water features and a greenhouse.
Location: Glebe Road, Oadby, Leicester, LE2 2LD
2. National Space Centre 🪐
The National Space Centre features the UK's largest domed planetarium, a 42-meter rocket tower and six interactive galleries and exhibitions. If you love science and space, this is a good idea for a day out.
Location: Exploration Dr, Leicester, LE4 5NS
3. Curve Theatre 🎭
If you fancy escaping into the big screen, check out what's on at Curve Theatre. It's known for its unique "inside-out" design where the foyer surrounds the theatre and stage area, opening it up to the audience. Big bonus - they offer a free 16-25 & Student Loyalty Pass.
Location: 60 Rutland St, Leicester, LE1 1SB
4. Lollipops Pottery Studio 🎨
Get creative at the pottery studio - it's a perfect activity to do with a mate or date. They also hold late-night sessions every last Saturday and first Wednesday of the month, which is a nice alternative to going out clubbing on a night.
Location: 9-12 Gartree, Oadby, Leicester, LE2 2FB
5. King Richard III Visitor Centre 📜
History lovers, get ready - Spend a day at the museum showcasing the life of King Richard III of England and the story, exhumation, and reburial of his remains in 2012-2015.
Location: 4A St Martins, Leicester, LE1 5DB
